Burnout Isn't Laziness — It's a Signal

If everything feels heavy and rest doesn't fix it, you may be running on empty. Burnout is a signal, not a failure.

Burnout Isn't Laziness — It's a Signal

Burnout doesn't announce itself all at once. It creeps in — first as tiredness, then as cynicism, then as the strange feeling that the things you once cared about don't matter anymore. You push through because that's what you've always done, but the well you're drawing from is dry.

Many people confuse burnout with laziness and judge themselves for not 'trying harder.' But burnout is your body and mind refusing to keep running a pace that isn't sustainable. It's a signal, not a shortcoming. The path through it isn't more discipline — it's honest attention to what's draining you and what actually restores you.

Recovery asks for real change: boundaries, rest that isn't earned, and often, a hard look at what you're asking of yourself. Therapy can help you map where the leak is and begin closing it.
