About the Practice
Relationships worth building. Connections worth keeping.
Candor and Hope Therapy, Inc. was born from a belief that the quality of our relationships — with ourselves and with others — deeply influences how we experience life.
Honest conversation and meaningful change. A private mental health practice in Northeast Ohio.
Why We Exist
Relationships shape us.
The ways we learned to communicate, trust, love, protect ourselves, resolve conflict, and respond to difficult emotions often began long before we understood their impact. Over time, those patterns can affect how we see ourselves, choose partners, parent our children, interact with family, establish boundaries, and navigate the people who matter most.
Unhealthy patterns do not have to become permanent patterns.
Relationships can be sources of love, safety, belonging, and strength. They can also become places where unresolved hurt, poor communication, resentment, fear, and disconnection take root. Without intentional change, these patterns can follow us through relationships, families, and even generations.
At Candor and Hope Therapy, we believe those patterns can change.
How We Help
Healthier relationships with yourself & the people who matter.
Our work goes beyond simply helping people experience fewer symptoms. We help clients better understand themselves within the context of their relationships — and build relationships that are healthy enough to keep, strong enough to support, and meaningful enough to nurture.
For individuals
Develop a healthier relationship with yourself — strengthen boundaries, understand attachment patterns, process past experiences, and communicate your needs without abandoning your values.
For couples
Communicate through conflict, rebuild trust, deepen emotional and physical intimacy, strengthen commitment, and create a partnership where both people feel valued and supported.
For families
Interrupt harmful cycles, understand one another differently, strengthen parent-child relationships, and create healthier patterns for the next generation.
Our Name
Why Candor & Hope?
Our name reflects two things we believe are essential to meaningful change — and we bring the two together.
Candor
Candor means having the courage to acknowledge what is true — with ourselves and with one another. Sustainable change requires honesty about our experiences, behaviors, needs, wounds, choices, and relationships, and the role each person plays within a relationship or family system.
Hope
Hope reminds us that honesty is not the end of the story. Even after conflict, disconnection, betrayal, grief, or significant change, there can still be opportunities for healing, understanding, growth, and a healthier way forward. Difficult histories matter — but they do not have to write the rest of the story.
Together, candor and hope create room for accountability, healing, reconciliation, boundaries, growth, and new possibilities. Therapy should provide a compassionate space where truth can be spoken and people can develop the skills necessary to create lasting change.
Our Approach
We see the whole system.
People do not develop in isolation. We are shaped by families, relationships, communities, experiences, values, culture, and the systems around us — so our approach is relational and systemic.
Rather than looking only at "What is wrong?", we also explore what happened, what patterns developed, and what each relationship needs to become healthier.
Sometimes healing requires repairing a relationship. Sometimes it requires changing how we participate in it. Sometimes it requires establishing healthier boundaries. And sometimes growth means recognizing that a relationship cannot continue in the same way. Therapy provides a place to understand the difference.
The questions we explore
- 01What happened?
- 02What pattern developed?
- 03What keeps repeating?
- 04What does this relationship need?
- 05What needs to change?
- 06What would healthier connection look like?
Building Relationships That Add Value
Value-based connections.
Healthy relationships should create connection, support, accountability, growth, safety, belonging, and mutual edification. We help people build relationships in which everyone understands what matters to them, communicates those values clearly, respects appropriate boundaries, and intentionally contributes to the health of the relationship.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is healthier patterns and relationships that can withstand real life.
